Position: Project Engineer

JUNEAU ASSOCIATES is a Veteran Owned Civil and Land Surveying Company interested in expanding our Chicago Office. The individual would be responsible for overseeing the execution of construction projects, the mentoring and growth of other team members, as well as growing relationships with clients. They will lead project teams with a focus on ensuring exceptional customer relations and successful project outcomes.

The successful candidate will be a team player with a diverse transportation background and the management and technical skills necessary to step in and immediately contribute. Organization, flexibility, outstanding customer focus and strong communication skills are critical to this role. This position reports directly to the President and Vice president of the company.

Job Responsibilities:
•    Prepare responses to requests for qualifications and project submittals
•    Provide constructive, timely feedback to project teams
•    Participate in goal setting and performance evaluations of team members
•    Oversee multiple project teams to assure compliance with JUNEAU ASSOCIATES standard processes and procedures
•    Support and ensure project compliance with JUNEAU ASSOCIATES safety and quality standards, procedures and expectations.
•    Support the project team to achieve schedule and financial goals
•    Assist in development of ongoing training to support operations
•    Assess project risks and opportunities and work with the project team members to mitigate risks and maximize opportunities
•    Participate in operational goal setting & strategic initiatives and carry out accordingly

The ideal candidate will have:
•    Good communication and effective listening skills
•    Strong organizational and time management skills
•    Demonstrated ability to develop people and support ongoing learning
•    Intimate knowledge of project scheduling
•    Intimate knowledge of construction means and methods on various transportation related projects
•    Proven leadership skills
•    Strong people management skills and ability to provide clear direction
•    Client interaction
•    10+ years of experience in transportation management
•    Illinois Professional Engineer License

Position: Structural Engineer (1 position)

Description: Requires a thorough understanding of engineering design and national building codes & design codes. Complete structural tasks assigned and to have escalating degree of client contact and coordination as experience is gained. Experience with MS OFFICE, AutoCAD or MicroStation and structural analyses software. Familiarity with AASHTO LRFD design codes and specs. Candidate should have a strong technical background in the design and detailing of both steel and concrete structures.

Education/Experience: Requires at least a Master’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering

Wage Offered: $ 65229 per year; 40 hrs/wk; 8:00 AM-5:00 PM

CIVIL CONSTRUCTION OBSERVATION

Job Responsibilities: Typical duties of the Construction Observer include, but are not limited to, observing construction projects to ensure contractor compliance with state specification, plans, and/or proposals for roadway work, roadway, pavement, etc.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Verifying plan quantities and calculations with bid plans
  • Preparing and maintaining project records and reports
  • Performing other miscellaneous duties as assigned by the project engineer
  • Notifying the Contractor or the project engineer of non-conforming work when necessary

This is a position for a motivated, result orientated individual with communication and people skills.

SENIOR STRUCTURAL ENGINEER

Job Responsibilities: Juneau Associates, Inc., P.C. a respected structural engineering firm is seeks a Senior Structural Engineer with 5 to 10 years of Building, Design and Detailing Experience for its St. Louis Office.  Experience should include a wide range of building structure types including educational, industrial, commercial, mid rise and parking structures, preferably in a consulting engineering firm environment.  Daily activities include:

  • Ability to run projects from design through construction
  • Developing geometric layout of structures / perform load calculations
  • Designing and detailing of structural building components utilizing specialized engineering software such as MathCAD, STAAD-Pro, AutoCAD and/or REVIT
  • Reviewing analysis and checking design calculations, estimates, and specifications produced by other engineers
  • Performing seismic analysis and design of building structures
  • Ability to interact with architects and engineers of different disciplines

Minimum Requirements:

  • B. S. in Civil Engineering with emphasis in structures (Master's degree preferred)
  • S.E. License in the State of Illinois
  • Minimum 5 to 10 years of experience working as a structural design engineer
  • Knowledgeable of national building codes and design codes
  • Detail oriented with strong skills in structural analysis, design and detailing of steel, concrete, masonry, and timber systems for all types of buildings
  • Proficient with MathCAD, STAAD-Pro, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), AutoCAD and/or REVIT
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Excellent written, verbal communication, and organizational skills
  • Diversified knowledge of technology, materials, equipment, design concepts, and construction techniques
  • Valid driver's license required
